The turntable of a record player rotates initially at the rate 33 rev/min and takes 14.9 s to come to rest. What is the angular acceleration of the turntable, assuming the acceleration is uniform? Answer in units of rad/s^2. How many rotations does the turntable make before coming to rest? Answer in units of rev. If the radius of the turntable is 18.6 cm, what is the magnitude of the tangential acceleration of a point on the rim at t = 0? Answer in units of cm/s^2.
I am trying to record some old records into a digital format. I have a non-Intel mac mini and a turntable that has a Toslink s/pdif digital output. Do I have to purchase something that connects the output of the turntable to the USB port on the mac? Or does the Mac 1/8 jack support a digital input, and all I need is a cable? Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks!
Mischievous Joey likes to play with his family's lazy susan (this drives Mom crazy because it is an antique). He puts the salt shaker near the edge and tries to spin the tray at a speed so that the shaker just barely goes around without slipping off. Joey finds that the shaker just barely stays on when the turntable is making one complete turn every two seconds. Joey's older sister measures the mass of the shaker to be 86 grams. She also measures the radius of the turntable to be 0.21 m, and she is able to calculate that the speed of the shaker as it successfully goes around in a circle is 0.6594 m/s. (a)What is the magnitude in newtons of the horizontal part of the contact force on the shaker by the turntable? (b) What is the magnitude in newtons of the vertical part of the contact force on the shaker by the turntable?
Currently I have a ION usb turntable and it feels to cheap and light. I'm looking to get a better turntable but I'm not sure exactly what to get. I'm just wanting to listen to records at home, not do any dj'ing. I would be running the table through a Sony mini shelf system. I've been thinking about getting a technics even though they are a bit expensive.
